September 2010 Goals

There have been a couple of days recently when I’ve walked outside in the morning and the air has felt decidedly… Fall.  You know what I mean.  It’s not the temperature, necessarily, but an unidentifiable undercurrent, a certain electric chill that signals the coming end of summer.  I’m trying to take this well, to not flash forward to the frozen future that is My Least Favorite Season (Read: Winter) and end up a bawling puddle of sadness on my office floor.  Note that I said I’m trying, not that I’m succeeding.  I’m not a superwoman, but I am trying.  And now if I can somehow work in a reference to spring, I’ll have talked about every season in one paragraph. :)

So!  Let’s distract me from my frigid doom with some goals, shall we?

September Goals (August holdovers in italics):

  • Revamp the portfolio section of this site
  • Finish all my pending edits in the first week of the month
  • Buy some new equipment to replace what I sold (exciting!)
  • Blog once a week — Yeah, okay, I failed at this one.  But I’m planning out my blogs for this month, which should help keep me on track.  I’m also upping it to “at least once a week.”  Let’s see how I do!
  • Keep up with my exercise schedule (again), and get Honey on one, too! — Confession: I’m not proud to admit this, but I took almost the whole month off from exercising.  HOWEVER, Glen and I are attempting to switch to a pre-work exercise schedule, for which our bodies currently despise us.  So, that’s the new goal for this month; stick with it.
  • Read a business-related book I’ve had on my shelf for awhile, but have yet to pick up — Started, but not yet finished.
  • Organize my paperwork (ugh) — Can you tell I’m avoiding this one?

Completed August Goals:

  • Make and order studio guestbook
  • Finish my friend’s overdue baby gift (the gift is overdue, not the baby!)
  • Sell some equipment! (And hopefully not have any more of my days ruined by unconscionably rude respondents to my craigslist posts.  Seriously, what is WITH some people?) — YESSSSS.

How will you start off your Fall season?

Preston I’m starting off the season by writing a game engine. This isn’t necessarily exciting or cool, so I’m also planning to rearrange my furniture. Hopefully, people will find the rearrangement of furniture as interesting as I find a game engine.

Molly Preston, have you ever read my goals? I doubt anyone else on planet earth would be excited by me organizing my paperwork! All that matters is that you’ve done something to push yourself forward — boring or otherwise. ;)
