November 2010 Goals

Connecticut Wedding Photographer November Goals

November!  Unbelievable! (The photo above is from a recent family shoot.  Gorgeous, right?)

Some really exciting things have been brewing around my cozy little home over the last couple of weeks.  I can’t give away any details, exactly.  Let’s just say that recently (after about a month of rookie mistakes and bad news), I took a deep breath and asked the universe for three straight weeks of of nothing but positivity.  The universe?  It was listening.

I still have about a week and a half left on my good news streak, and I’m looking forward to what it has in store for me.  The only thing that hasn’t gone my way so far is that we’ve finally had to turn on our heater, as it was 60º in our house this morning!  (It’s 46º out right now — WHAT?!)

November marks the beginning of winter hibernation for my business, so it’s time to start working on all that time-consuming clerical stuff that gets put off when I’m up to my eyeballs in edits.  This month I’m challenging myself to finish ALL of my goals.  What do you think?  Want to do it with me?

November Goals (October holdovers in italics):

  • Take new photos of Glen and I (My mom recently asked me for some and WE HAVE NONE!  Plus, I have a new haircut, and it’s lovely.)
  • Finish up all my remaining edits by the end of the week
  • Create new DVD packaging
  • Convince my Connecticut relatives (i.e., Glen’s family) that pumpkin pie a) can be delicious and, b) is a Thanksgiving staple
  • Buy new work hard drives
  • Finish the majority of my Christmas shopping
  • Update my winter wardrobe
  • Eat more fruit (how vague is that for a goal?)
  • Drink more water (vague is good!)
  • Bake at least two loaves of bread (from my Great Uncle’s recipe — TO. DIE. FOR.  Our butter consumption skyrockets when we bake bread.)
  • Organize my paperwork (ugh) — Can you tell I’m STILL avoiding this one?

Completed October Goals:

  • PRINT OUT these goals, and keep them visible at my desk  — This was very helpful!  I’ll definitely keep up with this
  • Keep editing time for each session / event to no more than one week — It wasn’t exactly calendar weeks, but I did really well (and am nearly done with all pending edits!)
  • Paint / draw at least three pieces of art to kick off our new frame wall — Super cute stuff!  I’ll take pictures when they’re hung!
  • Write letters to two people
  • Revamp the portfolio section of this site
  • Keep up with my exercise schedule (again), and get Honey on one, too!
  • Read a business-related book I’ve had on my shelf for awhile, but have yet to pick up

So, how are you spending your November?  Do you have any good Thanksgiving traditions (besides pumpkin pie)?  I’d love to hear them!
